Sri Dasbodh
‘Bodh’ is the upadesa that one gets from a Guru. ‘Bodh’ also refers to the chaitanya that permeates our being. ‘Dasbodh’ is the realization / attainment of ‘Jnaana’ by ‘Sri Samartha Ramadasa’. This complete work is in the form of a dialogue between a ‘Guru’ and his ‘Shishya’ as is the characteristic of any ‘Upadesa Grantham’, thus indicating its flow through the ‘Guru Sishya Parampara’.
While this grantha deals about all subjects like ‘Yoga’, ‘Jnaana’ etc., it is presented on the edifice of ‘Bhakti Maarga’. It deals with various subjects like ‘Navavidhaa Bhakti’, ‘Jnaana’, ‘Vairaagya’ & covers ‘Siddhaanta’ on ‘Shuddha Jnaana’, ‘Shuddha Bhakti’ and ‘Aatmasthithi’, ‘Suddha Upadesha’, ‘Saayujya Mukti’, ‘Moksha’, ‘Shuddha Swaroopa’, ‘Videha Sthithi’, ‘Deva Lakshana’, ‘Bhakta Lakshana’, ‘Maayodhbhava’, ‘Panchabhootas’, ‘Upasana Lakshana’, ‘Kavitva Lakshana’ to mention a few.
It is a summary of all the various philosophies & is an indepth exposition of our ‘Sanaatana Dharma’ ranging from the fundamental principles on the one end & evolved facets on the others - but in a lucid, crisp and arresting manner, which can be understood by any ardent & devoted aspirant of ‘Aatma Jnaana’. This grantha quells the various doubts and questions which arise in the mind. This is a commentary as an essence of all the Upanishads / Vedanta Srutis, various shaastraas and granthas as also what was self-realised by ‘Samartha’.
